Sara Louise Hanson Hines, age 67, of Huntington, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 9:15 am at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation.
Sara was born February 17, 1949, in Huntington, Indiana, the only daughter of Louis V. and Mary L. (Smith) Hanson. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1967 and from Huntington College where she received a BS in elementary education in 1971. She was a member of Central Christian Church where she served as a teacher in their preschool for 19 years. She loved reading, singing, baking, writing poems and short stories, and collecting music boxes and dolls.
She is survived by a cousin Joan Patricia “Pat” Landis of Huntington, and second cousins Kay (Don) Cotton, Karen Landis, Patti (Werner) Koslowski, Susie (Danny) Knust, Julie Essig, Carla Hanson, Kevin Hanson, and Lorri (Robert) Watts. She was preceded in death by her parents; an aunt, Mildred Orr; an uncle, Pressnall Smith, and cousins Marjorie J. Essig, Mary K. Hanson, Herbert Smith, and Dr. Larry Smith.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon prior to the 12:00 noon funeral service at Deal-Rice Funeral Home- Huntington Chapel, with Dr. Sam Young officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.
