Phyllis Jeanne Duncan, 72, formerly of 309 Loveland Avenue, passed away early in the morning of September 27, 2017. She had recently been a resident at Aperion Estates. She had lived in Peru, Indiana for most of her life.
Phyllis was born in Peru, Indiana on September 11th, 1945 to Carl and Lila Mosher Greenwald. Both are deceased. She graduated from Peru High School in 1963 and Ivy Tech Community College in 1993.
Phyllis leaves behind one sister Vicki Fluette of Peru, Indiana and a brother Terry Stevens of Lima, Ohio.
A daughter Kim (Tony) Wouster of Bloomington, Minnesota. A daughter Debi (Jerry) Engel of Bunker Hill, Indiana. A son Tom (Hillary) Duncan of Galveston, Indiana.
She had several grandchildren: Kassandra (Corey) Kotkoski, Anthony Wouster, Justin Engel, Janel (Don) Townsend, Skyler (Katie) Duncan, Tanner Case, Kayleigh Duncan, Ellie (Jarrod) Alspaugh, Joey Kelly, and Haley Duncan.
She also had many great-grandchildren: Joey Townsend, Sarah Townsend, Weston Graves, Jaden Manriquez, Braxton Manriquez, Porter Kotkoski, and Levi Abbott.
Phyllis was an Auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 14 for most of her life as well as the local Girls State representative. Phyllis devoted her life to her family and friends. She loved the local community and worked at both The Circus Hall of Fame and The Grissom Air Museum. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Anyone who knew her can easily recall a story of her willingness to always lend a helping hand. If she wasn’t working or spending time with family, you could catch her making crafts at home. She was as creative as she was caring.
A celebration of life and dinner will be held at her son’s home located at 7191 S. Country Road 1000 East, Galveston, IN 46932 on Saturday, September 30th from 4pm to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association.
