Peggy Jo McPherson

Peggy Jo McPherson, 75, Jonesboro, went to be with the Lord at 12:35 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Gas City on September 22, 1942, to Clayton Couch and Mildred (Campbell) Dailey. On July 20, 1963, Peggy married the love of her life, John McPherson, and he survives.

Following her 1960 graduation from Mississinewa High School, Peggy continued her education at Fort Wayne Business College, where she received an associate’s degree in business. She retired from Mississinewa Community Schools in 2013 where she worked as a preschool paraprofessional. Peggy had previously worked at RCA, Owens-Illinois, and DeVoe Chevrolet. She was a long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Peggy enjoyed listening to music and attending concerts, and she was an avid Mississinewa sports fan. Peggy loved to travel, especially the many trips she went on with her husband. She had a close group of friends she met with on a weekly basis for coffee and fellowship at McDonald’s. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and she cherished the time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, John; daughter, Shannon McPherson, Gas City; granddaughter, Hannah McPherson, Gas City; brother, Jerry (Lois) Couch, Jonesboro; sisters, Sharon Sawyer, Florida, Phyllis (Pete) Kolianos, Florida, Carol Sue (Darrell) Davis, Marion, and Jeanne Hueston, Florida; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and her dogs, Rusty, Bailey, and Hoagie.

Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Clayton Couch; mother, Mildred (Tom) Dailey; son, Mickey McPherson; and brother-in-law, Chuck Sawyer.

The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. with a vigil held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Richard Weisenberger officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
