Paul, 91, was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana on February 13, 1925 to the late John F. and Thelma E. (Delp) Devitt. He passed away on November 29, 2016 in Marion General Hospital, Marion.
Paul was a 1942 graduate of St. Paul Catholic School, Marion. He entered the United States Navy and proudly served until 1946. On January 16, 1947 he married Frances L Vickrey. Mrs. Devitt preceded him in death on March 7, 2001. Paul worked in sales for Frank’s Piston and Challenge Auto.
In his free time he enjoyed going to casinos and traveling to various places with his daughters and sons-in-law. One of his proudest moments was visiting the WWII memorial in Washington D.C with the Honor Flight Northeast Indiana. He supported both I.U. and Purdue basketball teams and was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts. Paul was a loving and devoted husband and father and his great sense of humor and loving spirit will be missed.
He is survived by his daughters, Paula (Stephen) Burke, Fort Wayne; Del Rae (Phillip) Bedwell, Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Robin (Liza) Burke, Jason (Alanna) Burke, Shannon (Daniel) Koch, Michael (Leia) Bedwell; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Stormi, Celina, Madison, Jacob, Abigail, Taylor, Samantha and Rylan.
Paul is also preceded in death by his brother, Fred Devitt; sister, Annabelle Devitt; granddaughter, Deena K. Burke.
The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 1pm in St. Paul Catholic Church, 1031 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 from 3-7pm at Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, Indiana. The vigil service will begin at 3pm.
Burial with military honors will immediately follow the funeral mass in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.
