Officers Find Meth, Marijuana, and Guns during Search Warrant

Akron – This morning at approximately 9:00 a.m. a narcotics investigation by detectives working from the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section resulted in the arrests Jacob Ashby, 30, and Samantha Shepard, 28, both from rural Akron, IN. The pair was incarcerated in the Fulton County Jail to face criminal charges for dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and three counts each for possession of a controlled substance.

As part of the narcotics investigation, troopers developed enough probable cause to be granted a Fulton Circuit Court search for Ashby’s and Shepard’s residence at 2865 South County Road 700 East, rural Akron. During the search, officers allegedly found approximately three quarters of a pound of methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription medication, 12 firearms, and $1,248 in United States currency.

Assisting ISP with the investigation was officers from the Rochester Police Department and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department.

This is an ongoing investigation.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
