Mary Jane See, 83, formerly of rural Kokomo, Indiana, died at 10:52 am, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. She was born May 2, 1934 in Howard County, Indiana to Charles and Mary Louise (Huckleberry) Lantz.
Mary Jane was a graduate of Northwestern High School in Howard County. She married Joseph See in Howard County, Indiana on February 28, 1954; he died January 31, 1973. She worked as a nurses aide at Dukes Hospital, as a doctor’s assistant at Grissom Air Base, as store manager at the Lord’s Dress Shop and at G.C. Murphy, both in Peru, and retired from Wal-Mart in Kokomo after 18 years. She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Kokomo. Mary Jane grew up and lived several years in Howard County, 28 years in Miami County, and the past three years at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester.
She is survived by her two sons, Craig (April Thomas) See of Fort Myers, Florida, and Michael (Jenny) See of Roann, Indiana; five grandchildren, Alison (Kalvin) Houk and Taryn (Jan Paul) Mojica of Fort Myers, Florida, Annie Hughes of Peru, Aaron (Michelle) See of Macy, Indiana, and Andrew (Megan) See of Peru; 9 great grandchildren, two brothers, Michael (Joyce) Lantz and Steven (Lynn) Lantz, both of Kokomo; and her sister, Susan (Denny) Bailey of Texas. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her grandson-in-law, Trevor Hughes.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, August 7, 2017 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel, 335 S. Chippewa Road, Roann, with Pastor Jeff Sumner officiating. Burial will be in Chili Cemetery, Chili, Indiana. Friends may call 12:30-2:00 pm Monday, at the funeral home.
