Lloyd E. Overholt, 95 of Huntington and formerly of Markle passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Heritage of Huntington. Lloyd was a 1940 graduate of West Union High School. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran from 1942 – 1945 who fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He had worked for Sears and Roebuck for 35 years, retiring in 1976 and had also worked at Myers Funeral Home from 1984 – 1998. He was a member of Markle Church of Christ where he was a custodian, along with his wife, for 23 years, he was also an elder, Sunday school superintendent and missions chairman.

Lloyd was born on February 1, 1921 in Wabash County, the son of Milward and Mary (Rupley) Overholt.

He was united in marriage to Mary Lund on December 24, 1941 at the Markle Church of Christ Parsonage. His wife preceded him in death on August 19, 2016.

Survivors include a son: Dennis (Anne) Overholt of Markle; a daughter: Linda (Robert) Hensley of New Haven; three sisters: Helen Bradburn of Huntington; Donna Brown of Markle; Joyce (Paul) Kinsey of Lady Lake, FL; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: his twin Floyd and Glen and Raymond Overholt; three sisters: June Geiger, Dorthy Miller and Gladys Lund.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse Street, Markle, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 10:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Markle Church of Christ with Gerald O. Moreland, Aaron McClary and John Mitchell officiating.

Interment will be at the Markle Cemetery.
