Lawrence Conner, Jr., 94, rural Mexico, peacefully passed away at home at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, May 29, 2016, with his wife of seventy-four years at his side.

Born November 20, 1921 in Macy, Indiana, he was the son of Lawrence Ellsworth Conner, Sr. and Grace Ellen Washington Conner.  On May 3, 1942, at the Mexico Church of the Brethren, he married Harriette M. Stofer, and she survives.

Lawrence was an active member of the Mexico Church of the Brethren, where he held many offices and served wherever needed.  He spent his entire life as a dairy and grain farmer and passed along his passion for agriculture to his children.  For several years, he served on the board at the Mexico Elevator. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors, but most of all, he loved being with his family.

The patriarch of the Conner Clan, he is survived by his wife, Harriette Conner, Peru; three sons, Eldon Conner and wife Jean, Peru; Glenn Conner and wife Donita, Peru; and Larry Conner and wife Diane, Peru; six grandchildren, Cassie Smith (Kelly Shultz), Rochester; Bev (Tim) Middlekauff, Peru; Bret Conner, Peru; Bart (Katie) Conner, Westfield; Katrina (Jason) See, Denver; Jenny (Danny) Thompson, Indianapolis; Lindsey (Jacob) Fife, Elkhart; Abby (Matt) Roberts, Lafayette; great grandchildren, Terry Smith, Taylor (Chelsea) Smith, and Travis Smith, Conner Middlekauff, Corbin Middlefauff, Kennedy Conner, Keegan Conner, Owen Page, Baylor Conner, McKenzie Conner, Austin See, Allyson See, Grace Thompson, Gabby Thompson, Caleb Fife, Chloe Fife, Madison Roberts, and Morgan Roberts; great-great granddaughter, Lillian Smith; and a sister, Janet K. Dalman, Holland, Michigan; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilee Wildman and Carolyn Conrad.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the Mexico Church of the Brethren with Chaplain Jason See and Pastor Gene Correll officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.

Visitation will be from 3-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver.
