Larry G. Thompson, Sr. age 62, of Marion, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 in St. Vincent Heart Center, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Larry was born August 2, 1953 in Marion, Indiana to the late Wayman and Juanita (Rennaker) Thompson. After his parents died, his brother, James “Jaybo” Lewis and his late wife, Sandra Kay Lewis adopted Larry and raised him. He married Susan Suddarth on March 15, 1980, and she survives.

He was active duty in the Marines and Army for 17½ years until his retirement. He was a member of the AMVETS where he served as Sergeant of Arms at the AMVETS Post #5; the D.A.V.; the Patriot Guard; and was an AMVETS Post #5 rider. He loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, and watching NASCAR. He also loved spending time with his boys, the grandbabies and his dog Oscar.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Thompson of Marion; three sons, Jacob Thompson of Orlando, Florida, Larry G. Thompson, Jr. of Marion and Fernando Figueiredo of Orlando, Florida; two brothers, James “Jaybo” Lewis of Marion and Jerry Lewis of Ft. Myers, Florida; two sisters, Judy (Richard) McIntire of South Carolina and Tina Lewis of Huntington, Indiana; two grandchildren, Illeana Thompson and Yallaina Thompson; mother-in-law, Elsie Suddarth; several nieces and nephews; and many friends at the AMVETS Post #5.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Thompson.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2016 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana with Pastor Mark Hummel officiating.

Burial will immediately follow funeral services in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana at 11:00 a.m.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 in the funeral home.
