Joe David Browder

Joe David Browder, 90, passed away at University Nursing Center, Upland, Indiana on
September 30, 2017. He was born in Marion, Indiana on July 20, 1927 to the late Hartle M. and Thelma “Irene” (Pearson) Browder.

Joe graduated from Jefferson Township High School, Huntington. On August 28, 1949, he married Bonnie Lou Hudson, she preceded him in death on July 1, 1992. Joe was a long-time resident of the Grant County area. Joe was a self-employed carpenter by trade. On October 9, 1993, he married Patricia Kay Miller, she preceded him in death on October 30, 2016. Joe was a loving husband and father and never had an unkind word towards anyone.

Joe was an artist and loved to paint barns and covered bridges. He also enjoyed woodworking and sculpting of all kinds, fishing, hunting, cooking, making his own wine, telling stories and going on Sunday drives. He was a dedicated member of the Marion Church of the Brethren where he served as deacon. Joe was also a 32nd Degree Mason.

Joe is survived by his children, Linda J. (Tom) Lunn, Astor, Florida; Robert W. (Karen) Browder, Marion; Barbara J. (Michael) Burbank, Gas City; Michele A. (Michael Brisco) Browder, North Manchester; step-children, Kimberly (Rocky) Shanks, Marion; Max W. (Connie) Zirkle, Gas City; Jacqueline Zirkle, Florida; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joe is also preceded in death by his brother, Carl Browder.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 5, 2017 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home 200 North 7th Street, Gas City, Indiana. Burial will immediately follow at the Estates of Serenity, 2225 South Lincoln Blvd, Marion, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 6-8 pm in the funeral home.
