James D. “Jim” Rogers

Jim was born on April 5, 1945 in Norwich, England. He passed away on November 15, 2016 in Marion General Hospital, Marion, Indiana.

Jim was a United States Navy veteran and proudly served during the Vietnam era. He later continued his education and earned his associates degree in computer engineering. Jim met and married the love of his life, Kathleen A. Wahby, on August 4, 1967. Mrs. Rogers survives in their Marion home. Jim and Kathy came to Indiana from St. Louis and resided in Shelbyville and Yorktown before settling in Marion in the early 1980’s. Jim’s was a career fence contractor and owned Central Indiana Fence. Later, he was a consultant for a fence distributor.

He was a member of the American Fence Association, Marion Aero Club, St. Paul Catholic Church and St. Raymond Maronite Cathedral, St. Louis. Jim enjoyed traveling, taking in a basketball game and occasionally playing golf, but he was happiest spending time with Kathy and his loving family and friends. Jim will be greatly missed for his generous and loving spirit and his devotion to his family.

Jim is also survived by his children Brigette A. (Charles) Burnett, St. Louis, Missouri; Shelly A. (Russell) Rush, Converse; Shannon M. (David) Minnaar, Carmel, Indiana; James L. (Heather) Rogers, Hartford City; mother, June (Newman) Crozier, Santa Rosa, California; brothers, Vernon Rogers, Tom Rogers, Rick Rogers, Michael Crozier, all of California; sisters, Cheryll (Doug) Anderson and Kim Crozier, both of California; grandchildren, Alexis, Chloe, Miles, Joseph, Brooke, Charles (Danielle) Burnett, III, Bethany Burnett; great-grandchildren, Nick, Charles Burnett,IV, Roze Burnett, Damien Burnett.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, James Rogers, step-father, Les Crozier and brother, Dennis Rogers.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church, 325 East North A Street, Gas City, Indiana on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 10:30am with Reverend Richard Weisenberger officiating. Military honors will take place immediately following the mass.

At the conclusion of services, the Rogers family invite extended family and friends to celebrate the life of Jim at St. Paul Catholic School Cafeteria, 1009 W. Kem Rd, Marion, Indiana. Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, Indiana was entrusted with the arrangements.
