Ishmael Perry Stapleton

Ishmael Perry Stapleton, age 77, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Hospital.  He was the beloved husband of Linda Stapleton.  They shared 27 beautiful years of marriage.

Born in Menifee, Kentucky, he was the son of Ray and Eva Stapleton.  He was a retired Square D employee of many years.  He enjoyed spending time with his family fishing and hunting.  He was an active member of First Assembly of God in Peru, Indiana.  He loved and cherished his church family.

He will be remembered for his strong dedication and faith in God.  He was a selfless and forgiving man that was always kind and generous to all people.  Perry Stapleton taught those around him to see the best in others and always open your heart.  He loved deeply and unconditionally.  He set the standards for his family – not by words, but the way he lived his own life.  Perry will be remembered as a role model to many, and his legacy will live on through his loved ones.  Our hearts will forever remember him as a wonderful family man.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Stapleton, and children: Robert Stapleton and wife Michelle, Shane Stapleton, and Joseph Bach and fiancée Tanya.  He has two living brothers, Jim Stapleton and Larry Stapleton.  He was surrounded by the love of seven beautiful grandchildren: Braxton, Madison, Keegan, Kennedy, Ethan, Shay, and Emily, and one great grandson, Zayden, each one having great admiration and respect for their grandfather as a man of God.   He was blessed to have 19 nieces and nephews that he loved and adored each with their own special place in his heart.

He was predeceased by his loving parents, Ray and Eva Stapleton and his only daughter, Kristy Stapleton Nutt, a daughter gone too soon, but now a glorious reunion between a father and daughter.  Deceased siblings include Betty Meadows, Bob Stapleton, Faye Stapleton, and Earl Stapleton.    He will be with so many loved ones who went before him.

Family and friends on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 10am – 1pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Thirds Street, Peru, Indiana.  Burial service will follow immediately at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.
