Hazel M. Crawford, 84, of Upland, died Thursday evening, November 24, 2016, in her daughter’s home in Huntington. She was born in Pickett County, Forbus, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Dent K. and Nova C. (Poore) Beaty.
She married Walter Crawford on July 27, 1951, in Byrdstown, Tennessee. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1999.
During her husband’s career in the Air Force, she and her family lived throughout the United States, England, and the Philippines. She greatly enjoyed the military life.
Hazel deeply loved her family and dedicated her life to being a wonderful wife, mother, homemaker, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, especially apple pie and fried rice, gardening, and bargain hunting at antique shops and Goodwill. She attended Upland United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her children, Greg Crawford, Indianapolis, Sharon (Vier) Ditzler, Huntington and R. Kevin (Lynn) Crawford, Upland; five grandchildren, Matthew Ditzler and Eric Ditzler, both of Noblesville, Lindsay Crawford, Upland, Ryan Crawford, Yorktown, and Kate (Kevin) Duecker, Gas City; and three great grandchildren, Kendall, Keira, and Baby Duecker; and three sisters, Alice Guffey, Patsy Singleton, and Billie Allen.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
