Fred John Cinatl, 85, passed away on August 10, 2017.  He was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Henry and Johanna, immigrants from Europe, and his sister Lorraine are deceased. Fred enjoyed football in high school and college, but his main interest was throwing the discus in track and field.

He was a Staff Sergeant in the 317th Engineers, U.S. 7th Army in Europe where he met his bride, Jean, who was born and raised in New Zealand. They were married in 1956 and were blessed with three sons, Mark (Cathy), Robert (Kathy), John, and five grandchildren, Ethan, Marie, Nick, Emma, and Greta.

Fred was happily employed by the Square D Company where he helped design the Model 4 Control Center and was awarded a patent for a portion of the design. In 1969, he was transferred to Peru, Indiana where Model 4 was manufactured.

Fred and his sons were active in Boy Scouts, and he led a group to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. All three sons reached Eagle Scout.

Fred joined the Peru Lions Club due to their motto. “We Serve,” and was proud of his many years of service. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Peru Lions Club “Sight First” program to treat River Blindness.

Funeral service will be held at 4pm on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana with Pastor J. Robert Clark and Pastor Catherine Koziatek officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 PM Friday until time of service.
