Frances M. “Fanny” Edmiston Beghtel (Steup)

Frances M. “Fanny” Edmiston Beghtel, age 86, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016, at 1:36 am at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.  She graduated from Roanoke High School in 1947, and was a child care provider for 41 years.  She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and attended Emmanuel Community Church. She was a member of Roanoke American Legion Post #160 Auxiliary, and loved children and animals.

Fanny was born July 31, 1929, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of Raymond and Ethel (Fawcett) Steup.  On August 10, 1947 she married Frank Edmiston in Fort Wayne and he passed away April 10, 1992.  She then married George Beghtel on April 12, 2003 in Roanoke and he passed away March 1, 2008.  She is survived by 3 daughters Sandy (Adolf “Hilgy”) Hilgendorff of Quebec, Canada, Tina (Bob) Hermes of Roanoke, Gina (Tim) Messal of Fort Wayne, a son John (Bibit) Edmiston of Clayton, Ohio, 11 grandchildren Kris (Monique Petrin) Hilgendorff, Kevin Hilgendorff, Torio (Jessica) Anderson, Meegan (Chris) Zillman, Erin (Russ) Hartman, Andy Hermes, Danielle (Colt) Reed, Kaylie (Joe) Campbell, Cody Messal, Timmy Messal, Payton Messal, 13 great-grandchildren, and brother Tom Steup of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers Bill, Don, and John Steup.

Visitation will be held Tuesday February 16 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Emmanuel Community Church, 12222 West Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne, and 1 hour prior to the funeral service Wednesday February 17 which is at 11:00 am at the church with Pastor Chris Zillman officiating.  Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke.
