Edna May Johnston, 94, Marion, died at 4:35 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Marion Rehab and Assisted Living. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 11, 1921, to the late Barrett and Mary Irene (Forbes) Snyder. She married Lester W. Johnston on July 16, 1942, and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1974.

Edna May was a 1939 graduate of Marion High School. She was a secretary at Foster Forbes for 40 years and retired in 1986. Edna May held memberships with St. Paul Catholic Church, Daughters of Issabela at St. Paul, and Disabled American Veterans Association. She was also a highly active member of Air Force Association. Edna May was a very loyal, diehard Cubs fan, and it was one of her greatest desires in life to see them win the World Series.

Loved ones surviving Edna May include her daughters, Donna Irene (Michael) Burchick, Amboy, Mary Ophelia Johnston, Marion, and Dawn Sherry (David) Mossburg, Marion; sons, John Lester (Peggy) Johnston II, Fort Wayne, and Thomas Joseph (Esther) Johnston, Bedford, Texas; grandchildren, Scott (Amy) Roark, Alpharetta, Georgia, Jai (Mercedes) Johnston, Portland, Oregon, Staci Hauptstueck, Fort Wayne, Kyle (Amanda) Johnston, Fishers, Jenea (Dallas Mitchell) Bowlin, Indianapolis, Matthew (Dominique) Johnston, Burbank, California, Joshua (Rebecca) Bowlin, Huron, South Dakota, Justin Johnston, Bedford, Texas, and Jeremy (Allison) Mossburg, Marion; great-grandchildren, Cameron Osborn, Adesyn Roark, Samuel Hauptstueck, Charles Hauptstueck, Maggie Hauptstueck, Tyce Taylor, Lincoln Johnston, Luca Johnston, Khalil Johnston, Cail, Averie, Tayt, and Asher Bowlin, and Haley Mitchell; sister-in-law, Delores Snyder; and special friend, Charlie Sharp.

In addition to her parents and husband, preceding Edna May in death were her granddaughter, Kori Johnston; brothers, Barrett, Donald, Ralph, and William Snyder; sisters, Dorothy Snyder and Mary Marcucilli; best friend, Annabel Applegate; and sister-in-law, Corabel Earp.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN 46952.

The Mass for Christian Burial for Edna May will be at 12 noon on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1009 W. Kem Rd., Marion, IN, with Father Richard Weisenberger officiating. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory.
