Edgar E. Stinger, 86, Marion, was surrounded by his family at home when he passed away peacefully at 9:17 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016. Move aside, St. Peter, so Edgar can oil the hinges of the pearly gates of Heaven! He was born in Grant County, Indiana, to the late Aubrey and Evelyn E. (Wirsing) Stinger, and he has a twin brother, Elmer, who survives and with whom he has an unbreakable bond.
On April 28, 1956, Edgar married Phyllis E. Strickland, and she preceded him in death on November 25, 2013. He worked for 23 years at Marion Water Works. He was previously employed for 20 years for House of Stone, where he hung drapes, and he worked for 25 years as Supervisor of General Plastics.
Edgar loved to work in his yard and take care of his home, and he enjoyed sitting in his swing in the sun. He was a perfectionist and had a strong love of music.
He will be missed by his children, Dianna (Huey) Hazen, Churubusco, Sue (Kevin) Jacks, Noblesville, Dixie (Dave) Montgomery, Marion, and Peggy Dickerson, Fairmount; grandchildren, Paul Michael (Becky) Rennaker, Melissa Rennaker, Jennifer McCall, Brooke McCall, Jill (Derek) Lewis, Nicole (Darwin) Van Dyke, Amanda (Justin) Lyons, Jacob (Jessica) Dickerson; 14 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Elmer (Marlene) Stinger and John Mark (Pat) Stinger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Harry Stinger and Richard Stinger, and son-in-law, Mike Dickerson.
Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Services are at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Lee McMurray officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
