Dorothy L. Gaff, 97, of Roann, Indiana, died at 9:50 a.m., Monday, May 9, 2016 at her home. She was born July 8, 1918 in Roann, to John Wood and Chloie (Powell) Wright.

Dorothy married Merritt Lee Gaff in Roann on November 29, 1943; he died June 27, 2013. She retired as admitting clerk for Wabash County Hospital in 1984 after 21 years. She was a member of Roann United Methodist Church, the Mayflower Society, and was very active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Dorothy loved crafting, especially rubber stamping, and was a member of the Wabash Rubber Stamping Club. She enjoyed gardening and camping.

She is survived by four children, Barbara (Steve) Williams of Plainfield, Indiana, Michael (Diane) Gaff of Cross City, Florida, Jerry Gaff of Waynesville, North Carolina, and Jan Ellyn (Randy) Engledow of Silver Lake, Indiana, son-in-law, Larry Smith of Cordova, Tennessee, 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Dianne Smith, and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel, 335 S. Chippewa Rd., Roann, with Pastor Wayne Balmer officiating. Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery, Roann. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are the Roann Covered Bridge Association or the Stockdale Mill Foundation.
