Doris Jane Manriquez

Doris Jane Manriquez, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 30, 2017 peacefully, at her home after an extended illness.

She was born in Peru, Indiana to Charles and Rowena “Della” Townsend. Doris is survived by 2 sisters, Phyllis (Gene) Turner and Linda (Bill) Fuller, 1 daughter, Denise Chack, 6 sons, Rodney Chack, Robert “Mike” Manriquez, Phillip (Lisa) Manriquez, Timothy (Tammy) Manriquez, Ronald (April) Manriquez, and Robin (fiance’-Danielle) Manriquez, 12 grandchildren, Jared Clemons, Amber (Chris) Michaels, Dustin Manriquez, Kevin Haggard, Hannah Manriquez, Joshua (Kyra) Manriquez, Derek (fiancé Magen) Manriquez, Brandt Manriquez, Breanna Manriquez, Abbie (fiancé Tyler) Manriquez, Cody (Ashley) Berry, and Evyn Manriquez, and 15 great-grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by both of her parents, 2 brothers, James “Jim” Townsend and Louis Townsend, 1 sister, Harriet (James) Bellar, and 1 son, Anthony “Tony” Chack.

Doris’ legacy is sure to live on in the many friends and family that had the pleasure of knowing her during her lifetime. She was retired from Trelleborg YSH where she and her prankster friends/coworkers would trick each other by putting stickers on each other’s backs with little embarrassing sayings on them to keep each work day interesting.

Doris was the most caring and supportive mother on Earth who taught her kids honesty and to have a good strong work ethic, while being stern enough to make her kids go get a switch off the tree if they needed a loving butt whippin’. She would do anything for anyone while always thinking of herself last. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. She also liked to watch the food network and relaxing while shopping for bargains at WalMart.

A visitation and memorial service in her honor will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. 3rd Street, Peru, IN 46970. Visitation is from 11:00-1:00pm, with a service to begin at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Denver, IN.

If you wish, memorial contributions will be accepted in Doris’ name to the ALS association of Indiana.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.FlowersLeedyAllen.com.
