Clara “Jean” Snyder

Clara “Jean” Snyder, 81, Marion, met her Lord and Savior at 5:13 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born in Wyandot County, Ohio, on November 1, 1935, to the late Burton and Mary L. (Stevens) Honsberger. Jean married Owen Snyder in 1953, and he survives.

Jean was a 1953 graduate of Lykens High School. She continued her education at Marion College (presently Indiana Wesleyan University), where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She was a night charge nurse at Marion General Hospital for 23 years and retired in 1997. Jean was a faithful member of College Wesleyan Church, and found great joy in serving the Lord and others around her. She was completely devoted to her family and grandchildren and attended all events in which they were involved. Jean was an avid fan of all sports.

Survivors include her husband, Owen; children, Cheryl Pratley, Stephan Snyder, Mark (Melissa) Snyder, and Karen (Dennis) Harvey; son-in-law, Marvin Moriarity; 13 grandchildren, Michelle (Nate) Hoover, Brian (Michelle) Moriarity, Stephanie Janik, Mark (Katie) Salveter, Nicole Pratley, Kayla Pratley, Nicholas (Jamaica) Snyder, Jamie (Drew) Matz, Matthew Snyder, Megan Snyder, Micah (Tiffany) Snyder, David Harvey, and Derek (fiancée Ashley) Harvey; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wesley (Nancy) Honsberger, Rita Snyder, and Pat (Dave) Jury; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Vicky Moriarity; sister, Colleen Seckel; brother, John Honsberger; and brother-in-law, Joseph Snyder.

Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave, Marion.

Services to celebrate Jean’s life are at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at College Wesleyan Church, 200 E. 38th St., Marion, with Pastor Alex Mandura officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
