Betty Mae Rowland, 82, Sweetser, IN, passed away at 6:07 a.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2016, in her home. She was born in Marvell, AR, to the late Henry and Tempie (Kirkpatrick) Crawford. She married Woodie Rowland on September 20, 1952, and he preceded her in death on July 26, 2015.

Betty was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a very loving and generous mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with family and friends. Betty enjoyed watching movies, playing cards, reading, and tending gardens. She was a wonderful homemaker, who also worked as a court reporter alongside her daughter at Bowland Reporting Service from 1985-1995.

Survivors include her children, Stanley (Renita) Rowland, Marion, Donna Bowland (Steve Butler), Marion, and Jerry (Christina) Rowland, Marion; grandchildren, Bradley “Simon” Rowland, William P. Rowland (Chasity), Joshua W. Rowland (Sammi), Blair A. Bowland (Jeanne), Lindsay J. (Daniel) Bartrom, Kayla D. Bowland, Grace M. Rowland, and Sophia J. Rowland; 13 great-grandchildren; nephew, Bruce; and nieces, Mable, Joy, and Mary.

In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Lester and Aubry Crawford.

Friends and family may call from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016, at the funeral home with Bishop Kenneth Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery.
