Betty Gene Blessing, 82, Alexandria, IN, died at 12:17 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Community Hospital, Anderson. She was born in Hazard County, KY, to the late Charles Calbert and Pearly Mae (Kidder) Bartrum.

Betty was a homemaker and previously worked at Foster Forbes and Morgan Packing when she was younger. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching TV, and spending time with her cat. Betty loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include her children, Frank McVay, Marion, Vickie (Larry) Starr, Indianapolis, Charlotte Reason, Kokomo, Carl (Callie) Philebaum and Charles Philebaum, both from Alexandria, Gail Philebaum, Monticello, Harvey (Melissa) Philebaum, Jonesboro, John Blessing, Jr., CA, David (Linda) Blessing, Indianapolis, Angle (Kevin) Adkins, Marion, and Joshua Blessing, TX; and step-daughters, Karen (Joe) Figueroa and Tonya (Jim) Roethle, both from AZ.

Betty is also survived by her siblings, Margaret Bartrum, Joe (Becky) Bartrum, Gas City, Bill (Karen) Bartrum, Converse, Paul (Nellie) Bartrum, Marion, Robert Bartrum, Converse, Suzie Bartrum, Converse, James Bartrum, Marion, Junior Bartrum, Texas, Gary Bartrum, Marion, Rita Morgan, Marion, Randy Bartrum, Shipshewana, Neil (Pam) Bartrum, Marion, Jesse Bartrum, Hartford City, Sherry (Troy) Bilbee, Marion, and April (Shane) Simpson, Marion.

Additional survivors include grandchildren, Adam McVay, Chris (Brendi) Andrick, Matthew (Tonya) Andrick, Michael (Amanda Jo) Starr, Michael Hollenbeck, Jesse (Ashley) Reason, Deanna Reason, Jason (Brittany) Collins, Tever Philebaum, Karen (Carter) Smith, Lisa (Jimmy) Persinger, Abagail Philebaum, Charles “C.J.” Philebaum, Kebra (Patrick) Tynan, Darcy (Michael) Sanders, Leslie (John) Boyd, Nola Fields, Dustin Blessing, David Blessing, Brandy Blessing, Jacob Blessing, Kendra Gibson, Kelsey Gibson, Kord Laughlin, and Joshua (Jennifer) Laughlin; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Phyllis Laughlin; brother, Charles Bartrum; sister, Shirley Kipps; and granddaughter, Angela Roethle.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016, at Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S. Washington Street, Marion, IN. Services for Betty will begin at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Parker officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
