It is with great sadness that the family of Belva Eleanor Phillips Lee, age 76, announces she entered into eternal peace on Saturday, June 24, 2017, after a brief illness.

Belva was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on May 10, 1941, to Lynn and Mildred Phillips. After graduating from Sonestown High School, she left to pursue her new life in Indiana. She married Jack Henning and they had three children, Jeff, Janet, and Janice. After they divorced, she married Oscar Lee and they had a daughter, Debra. Belva became a widow in 1980 after which she went to business school and graduated from Indiana Business School in Marion. She then re-entered the workforce as a teller and then retired in 2006 as the manager of Fort Financial (formerly Dana Credit Union) in Marion.

Belva’s family was her life. She devoted that life to spending time divided between her Indiana family and her Pennsylvania family. She was kind, gentle, and giving to all she loved. Belva was loved by many and took them all in as her own. She was a devoted, active member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Gas City.

Survivors include her son, Jeff Henning; twin daughters, Janet (Doug) Boys and Janice (David) Eaton; and youngest daughter, Debra Welsh; six grandchildren, Chrissy Welsh, Jared Wimmer, Wesley Skeens, Sarah Skeens, Collin Smith, and Madeline Eaton; four great-grandchildren, Deon Reynolds, Emily Eakins, Haiden Connor, and Layla Gossett; and soon-to-be-born great-grandson; three sisters, Shelby Smith, Helen Booth, and Opal (Jim) Propes; brother, Vernon (Eula) Phillips; sisters-in-law, Kate Gilbert, Sondra (Rex) Fisher, and Shirley Buckland; brother-in-law, Bud (Wilma) Lee; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-niece, and great-nephews; and special friend, Francis Jones.

Belva was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Mildred Phillips; husband, Oscar Lee; brother, Lynn Phillips, Jr.; sister, Ruth Koontz; and brothers-in-law, Joseph Smith and Robert Booth.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City.

Belva’s funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 325 E. N. A St., Gas City, with Father Richard Weisenberger officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
