Anthony “Tony” Vincent Nero, Sr., passed away at 1:55 P.M., Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Peru, IN. He was born in Buffalo, NY on June 20, 1932 the son of Frank D. and Angeline M Abati Nero. Tony married June E. Cotner on May 11, 1961 and she preceded him in death on April 17, 2001. Tony graduated from Buffalo Tech High School in Buffalo, NY. He was retired from the US Air Force and the US Post Office where he worked for 23 years. Surviving are his daughters Leesa Wright and her husband Steven of Florida, Jeannie Runge and her husband Richard of Florida and Jane Ansari of Peru, sons Michael Nero of Bunker Hill and Anthony Nero Jr. and his wife Dawn of Warsaw and a sister Barbara Nero of Buffalo, NY; grandchildren Brandi Mathis, Tonia Byrd, Robert Ansari, Jason Nero, Shine Hall, Amanda Gee, Angie Holt, Acacia Nero, Jessica O’Conner, Lindsay Wright, Clint Runge and Collin Runge, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, June, a son, John, a daughter Laura, a son-in-law HR Ansari, 3 grandchildren and a sister, Frances Ortolano. A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Anthony Vincent Nero, Sr. will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main St., Peru, IN. Burial will follow at Mt Hope Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Family and friends will gather from 11:00 A.M., to 1:00 P.M., Thursday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
