Alton C. Harris, 81, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017, at 9:39 a.m. at Parkview Regional Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Harris was born on September 30, 1936, in Weeksbury, KY, to Grant and Sarah (Hall) Harris. His parents preceded him in death. Alton married Pluma Jean Berger on August 22, 1965. She survives in Huntington.
Alton worked at Majestic for over 28 years, before retiring. He was a member of Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church.
Along with his wife, survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth (Robert) Myrda, North Manchester, IN, and Gina (Wade) Tyner, Huntington, IN; two brothers, Hairl (Opal) Harris, Winchester, KY, and Tommy (Barbara) Harris, Huntington, IN; five sisters, Marie(Onsby) Johnson, Andrews, IN, Geraldine (Orbin) Hall, Huntington, IN, Patsy (Rolla) Blair, Huntington, IN, Ethel Wires Mygrant, Huntington, IN, and Irene (Blane) Caudill, Huntington, IN; and a half-sister, Frances Vanderpool, Wabash, IN.
He is also survived by 3 grandsons; Zachary Bailey, Blake Dolby, and Gabriel Tyner.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Corbin and Robert Harris.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church, 116 S. Main Street, Andrews, IN 46702.
Funeral service will be held Monday, November 27, 2017, following the calling at noon at Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church, 116 S. Main Street, Andrews, IN 46702, with Pastor Tod Masters officiating.
Burial will be at Monument City Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
