Alice G. Gotschall, 101, Marion, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 10:40 a.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017. She was born on March 4, 1916, in West End, Illinois, to Larkin and Letha (McGhee) Waller. Alice married Ernest Gotschall, and he preceded her in death in 2000.

Alice was a homemaker and lived her life serving and taking care of her family. She was a great cook and always looked forward to large gatherings with family and extended family members to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, Martin Luther King Day, or any holiday. It didn’t matter to Alice. Any time she could get people together, she was ready to prepare food for everyone. Alice also enjoyed sewing and gardening, as well as canning and preserving. A couple of her favorite pastimes were going to Cowboy Church at Grace Community and watching Christian music on television.

She is survived by her children, Norma Gotschall, Marion, Judy (Jim) Jorczak, Leesburg,

Carolyn La Rue, Lima, Ohio, Billie Warren, Marion, John Gotschall, Marion, Cathy (Frank) Chandler, Lincolnville, Lisa (David) Barney, Lincolnville, and Terri (Danny) Hanthorn, Marion; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and several foster daughters, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Terry La Rue and Frank Mitchell; one granddaughter, Emma Martin; and four brothers and five sisters.

The family will receive visitors from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Services to celebrate Alice’s life will be held at Sunnycrest Baptist Church, 2172 W. Chapel Pike, Marion, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, with Pastor Nathan Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park. There will be additional visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
