Xen Lee McCord

After surviving an ALS diagnosis by more than 15 years, Xen Lee McCord passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021, peacefully at home. He was 77.

Xen was born in Indianapolis on April 1, 1944, and raised in Swayzee, Indiana. A 1962 graduate of Swayzee High School, Xen began dating the love of his life, Debbie Daugherty in 1968. The two married at Swayzee Methodist Church on July 10, 1971, and moved to Fairmount before ultimately settling in Rigdon. Xen was the proud and supportive father of three children, Jason, Jeremy and Angela, and nine grandchildren, whom he loved unconditionally.

Xen was a hard-working employee of General Cable in Marion for more than 35 years, even serving as President of his local union for some time. He was an active 50-year Mason and Eastern Star member.

Despite many physical challenges resulting from ALS, Xen’s positivity never diminished. He still had the biggest smile in the room. Xen was a loyal friend and happy-go-lucky guy who loved motorcycles, old cars, reading, telling stories, and, most of all, making us laugh.

Xen is survived by his wife of 50 years, Debra; his children, Jason McCord of Marion, Jeremy (Sherri) McCord of Fairmount, and Angela (Gilbert) Yeremian of Atlanta, GA; and nine grandchildren, Matthew McCord, Brooke McCord, Ericka (Payne) McCord, Bailey (Kelsey) McCord, Kyle McCord, Aryssa McCord, Aiden McCord, Elise Yeremian, and Nolan Yeremian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Treva McCord.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Swayzee Church of Nazarene, 2560 S. 800 W., Swayzee, IN.
