Winifred E. “Mickey” Colbert-Small

Winifred E. “Mickey” Colbert-Small, 89, died Friday evening, March 30, 2018, in Rolling Meadows Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Sacramento, California, the daughter of the late Lewis & Gladys (Prehn) Edmond.

Mickey moved in to Upland from West Covina, California in 1967. She owned and operated Colbert’s Café from 1968-1979 and then was employed with Creative Dining at Taylor University for 24 years, before her retirement in 2002. She attended Holt Family Catholic Church, Gas City, and was a volunteer at the VA Hospital in the patient library. She was a member of AMVETS Auxillary Post #5, Marion, VFW Auxillary, Marion, American Legion Auxillary #95, Jonesboro, and an AA Volunteer. She was known for her good cooking.

Survivors include a son Robert (Joyce) Turner, Los Alamos, California; a daughter, Mickey Lee Moodheal, Fillmore, California; step-children,  Vera (Tim) Warnack, Hartford City and Jason (Lisa) Small, Montpelier;  six grandchildren, Josh Troop, Justin Troop, Spencer (Mariah) Massey, Jase Small, Alista Puckett, and Taylor Small; and two great grandchildren, Colton Troop and Emma Massey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband  of many years, Don Small; three brothers, Lewis Gunter, Earnest Gunter, and Walter Young; and a sister, Beulah Dunn.

Visitation will be Friday, April 6, 2018, from 5-7 pm at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, Jones-Smith Chapel, 259 N. Main St., Upland, Indiana, 46989. Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 10:00 am at the funeral home.

Arrangements were entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, Jones-Smith Chapel.
