William K. “Bill” Carpenter Sr., 76, of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 1:03 pm, Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born July 7, 1943 in Leander, Kentucky to Sanford and Madgie (Click) Carpenter.
Bill married Gladys Farmer in Wabash on July 19, 1966. He retired from GenCorp in Wabash, and also worked at BTR in Peru, and currently worked security at Fort Wayne GMC. Bill enjoyed drag racing and NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Carpenter of Wabash, three children, Kimberly (Mike Figert) Rowe of Urbana, Indiana, Teresa (Hampton) Correll and William K. “Bud” Carpenter, Jr., both of LaFontaine, Indiana, and two grandchildren, Shaylee Correll of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Breklon Salyers of Urbana. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
