KOSCIUSKO COUNTY,Indiana – A man from Warsaw is locked up in the Kosciusko County Jail in lieu of $7500 bail after taking police on a chase which ended up with his SUV submerged in Center Lake. Around 3:20 Saturday morning, 29 year old Benny Fitzpatrick of Warsaw was spotted by police driving without head or tail lights. Officers attempted to stop Fitzpatrick after he initially got stuck in a snow bank. While attempting to get his SUV out of the snowbank and away from cops he hit a Winona Lake Police Car. He then mowed down a newspaper box and damaged some Warsaw Parks Department Property – all while still driving without head or tail lights.
The allegedly intoxicated Fitzpatrick then drove his SUV toward the Center Lake boat ramp, jumping out of the vehicle as it approached the lake. The car went down ramp and into the lake with Fitzpatrick staggering away on foot. He was quickly subdued by officers and hauled off to jail while the dive team was called to make sure no one else was in the SUV and assist in recovery of it from Center Lake. Benny meanwhile, is in jail facing a long list of charges after his intoxicated Saturday Morning romp with the cops.
