Wabash Kiwanis Club hosting Membership Drive

WABASH, IN- The Wabash Kiwanis Club is gearing up for one of its most-important events of the year and is calling out community members to attend.

The local children’s service organization is hosting its annual Membership Drive from 12-1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the Honeywell Center’s Crystal Room. This event will help the Club increase its membership, which will in turn make it more active in the community. Wabash Kiwanis is celebrating 103 years of giving back to the community this year.

The event will begin with a free lunch for prospective members, accompanied by fellowship with existing members of the Club. Afterwards, a short presentation about the benefits of membership with the organization will be facilitated by Wabash Kiwanis’ membership chairman, Eric Seaman.

“The success of our Club falls down to how active our members are,” Seaman said, “so the more members we have, the more children will benefit not only here, but statewide and around the globe.

“We do amazing things as a group, from fundraisers to community volunteering. If you’re wondering how you can be a part of something bigger than yourself, while also making some friends and giving back to children and families, we hope you’ll be there.”

Those who are interested in attending can RSVP to Seaman via email at eseaman@honeywellarts.org or at 260-274-1432. Those with interest can also reach out via Facebook at the Club’s Facebook page, “Wabash Kiwanis Club.” RSVPs are requested to be made before Tuesday, Sept. 5, so the venue can prepare enough food for the lunch.

Wabash Kiwanis supports youth- and community-focused initiatives like Riley Hospital for Children, the Eagles Theatre renovation, FAME Festival, the Honeywell Summer Arts Camps (formerly VPA) and Arts in Education programs, the Wabash County Scholarship Pageant, Founder’s Day, Wabash Area Community Theater, the Wabash High School volleyball team’s Kills for a Cure fundraiser and more.
