WABASH, Ind. – The Wabash City Council approved $105,000 in additional appropriations for the Wabash City Schools on Monday night, November 28th.

Of the $105,000, $45,000 was from capital outlays and will be used for the bus replacement fund. Another $40,000 was to go from personnel services to the transportation fund, while the remaining $20 will go from personnel services to the Rainy Day fund.

City Schools Business Manager Matt Stone said the appropriations were basically a bookkeeping matter as the district already had the funds on hand.

The Council must approve the matter, as it has final say on the City Schools’ budgets matters. Under state statute, the Council must approve the district’s financial matters because it appoints the school board.

In another matter, Council member Bryan Dillon reported the council will meet at 5:30pm Thursday to interview three prospective school board members. The term of Brandon France expires at the end of the year.

Dillon said he hopes to present the Council the name of a candidate when it meets again on December 12.

Finally, Mayor Scott Long gave the ceremonial oath of office to probationary firefighter Dalen Richards.
