Vivian L. Freeman

Vivian L. Freeman, 92, Marion, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, at 3:36 am on Friday, May 13, 2022. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Wednesday, June 26, 1929, to William and Hazel (Miller) Alig. She married her 1st love, Howard McDonald on October 7, 1946. Later in life, she married Lloyd K. Freeman on December 2, 1974.  

She accepted Christ as her personal savior at the age of 28 and faithfully served Him. She was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, Junior Church and Awanas.

She retired as the owner of a small business specializing in home decor, where she met many friends and acquaintances who fondly knew her as “The Rug Lady”.  Only eternity will reveal the countless number of children and adults she influenced through her godly walk and testimony. All who knew her will remember her outgoing personality (she never met a stranger), infectious laugh and compassionate heart. She was a loving wife, step-mother, step-grandmother, and auntie to all her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hazel Alig; husbands; sisters, Rosemary McDonald, Lillian Hornowycz; brother, William Alig, Jr.; step-son, Willis Freeman; and nephew, Glen McDonald.

Survivors include her sister, Joan Thorne of Indianapolis, step-children, Audrey (late Joe) Powell, Pat (Larry) Conover, and Dale Freeman; as well as many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Union Chapel Baptist Church, 6049 E. 300 S., Marion, IN 46953.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Vivian’s life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Bill Dumpert officiating.  Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
