Vernon Leroy Rumple

Vernon Leroy Rumple, 81, Marion, passed away in his home at 10:30 pm on Thursday, January 28, 2021. He was born in Van Buren, Indiana, on Thursday, May 25, 1939, to George and Luella (Lobdell) Rumple. On September 14, 1985, he married Karen Seemann.

Vernon graduated from Van Buren High School and worked as a truck driver with Champion Target, retiring in 2001. He was a huge NASCAR fan. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include wife, Karen Rumple of Marion; daughters, Cynthia K. (David) Linn, Lisa L. (James) Yarger; sons, Michael S (Davina) Rumple, Gerald (Vicki) Mortimer, and Brent R Mortimer; sisters, Sandra Haworth, Nila Burnside; brother, Ronald (Susan) Rumple; grandchildren, Kevin (Jennifer) Yarger, Kyle (Carly) Linn, Nicholas (Rachel) Yarger, Heath (Liz) Yarger, Kait Steely, Kailey Mortimer, Michaela Rumple, Matthew Rumple, Richard Mortimer, Alexis Mortimer, Maxwell Rumple; as well as 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Luella Rumple; brothers, William Penrod, Arlen Penrod; and first wife, Janet Rumple.

The family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm on Friday, February 5, 2021, at The Van Buren Central Christian Church, 201 S. 1st St., Van Buren, IN 46991.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Vernon’s life will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Tony Miner officiating. Burial will take place at Van Buren Cemetery.
