Vernie McKee, Jr., 80, Marion, died at 2:06 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor. He was born in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, on March 1, 1937, to the late Vernie and Katherine (Vice) McKee. On October 19, 1955, Vernie married Margaret Jane Hawkins, and she preceded him in death on March 19, 1973.
Vernie was the Owner/Operator of M&H Auto Sales for 49 years and had previously worked at General Tire. He loved playing pool and Euchre, going to the casinos, dancing, and spending time outdoors.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Ray (Linda) McKee and Mark Allan (Joyce) McKee, both from Marion; step-sons, Michael (Inez Hurt) Sloan and Brian Sloan, both from Marion; sisters, Roberta Harris, Marion, Linda (Bobby) Dotson, Moraine, Ohio, Carolyn (Vic) Perskins, Hillsboro, Kentucky, and Roseann (Albert) Crump, Flemingsburg, Kentucky; caregiver, Cheryl Preston, Marion; several nieces and nephews; and step-grandchildren, Tawnya (Mark) Norman, Marion, and Bud (Sara) Hickman, Columbus, Ohio.
Also preceding him in death was his brother, Bobby Joe McKee.
The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Vernie’s funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
