Vera Marie Brewer, 97, passed away peacefully at 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2016, in the home of her daughter in Marion. She was born in Akron, OH, to the late Sam and Edna (Kierstead) Durben. She was married to Charles F. Brewer, who preceded her in death on January 26, 1955.
Vera was a graduate of Jonesboro High School. She worked for the Jack and Suzy Lazard family for 30 years. Vera loved growing flowers, crocheting, and reading.
Loved ones she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her son, George (Debie) Brewer, Marion; daughter, Nancy Moore, Marion; grandchildren, George Brewer, Jr., Donald (Teri) Brewer, Randy (Heather) Brewer, Kimberly Brewer, Charles (Deniese) Brewer, Frederick D. Moore, and Calvin Lee Moore; 18 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, preceding Vera in death were a son, Samuel D. Brewer, four brothers, and one sister.
Family and friends may call from 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Services, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. Services for Vera will begin at 1 p.m. with Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
