Velma L. Porter, 86, of LaFontaine, Indiana passed away at 11:38 a.m. on November 28, 2023, at her residence. She was born on March 2, 1937, to Cecil and Dorothy (Shad) Wright in Wabash, Indiana.
Velma was a 1955 graduate of Lagro High School. She first married James Brubaker. He passed away in 1967. She then married Charles K. Porter on June 16, 1973. Velma was a homemaker. She attended the Church of Christ at Treaty. She loved the outdoors, bird watching, and tending to her garden and her kitty.
Velma is survived by her husband, Charles Porter of LaFontaine, Indiana; two daughters, Diana (Randy) Carver of LaFontaine, Indiana, Debra (Michael) Arnold of Wolcottville, Indiana; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Carver, Andrew Carver, Austin Arnold, Zachary Arnold; six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023, at McDonald Funeral Homes, LaFontaine Chapel,104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940. with Pastor David Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.
Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023, at the funeral home.
