HUNTINGTON,Indiana — Questions came up Tuesday morning at the Huntington City Common Council meeting about the effects of the United Technologies tax abatements the company has received and what happens as they move into the future now that they are moving they manufacturing to Mexico. Huntington County Economic Development Executive Director Mark Wickersham said 2016 will not be affected because the move will not take place until 2017. Wickersham said there would be slight changes for 2017, but he added that it likely won’t be until UTEC pays their 2018 property taxes in 2019 before the county would know what the full effects of the changes will be. UTEC is keeping their engineering and product marketing divisions in Huntington.
