Updated Information for Thursday North Manchester Shooting

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – On Thursday, May 25th, 2017 at 8:04pm the North Manchester Police Department responded to multiple shots fired at 619 East Main Street in North Manchester, IN. Sgt. Nate Birch, Officer Brian Hammons, and officer Isaac Adams of the North Manchester Police Department were the first officers to arrive at the scene. His wife Sarah Chapman had also been shot and was transported by Parkview ambulance to Fort Wayne Parkview Hospital. Sarah Chapman was released later that night from the hospital. Six more off duty North Manchester Police Officers were called to assist in the investigation at the scene. Officers in the area were given the shooting suspect’s name, Tiffany Chapman-Lane, who was the deceased’s ex-wife, and the vehicle description right after the shooting. Tiffany Chapman-Lane came to the North Manchester Police Department about 45 minutes after the shooting and was taken into custody. North Manchester officers obtained search warrants that night for the scene of the shooting. The suspect’s vehicle, and the suspect’s residence in South Whitley County. Tiffany Chapman-Lane is being initially charged with murder and attempted murder. At this time the North Manchester Police Department has requested a 72 hour hold for Tiffany Chapman-Lane with the court to gather the paperwork for the Wabash County Prosecutor. The Wabash County Prosecutor will determine the official charges for Tiffany Chapman-Lane. Assisting the North Manchester Police Department at the scene were Indiana State Police Detectives and Crime Scene Techs, Wabash County Sheriff’s Department officers, Parkview Ambulance, North Manchester Fire Department, Wabash County Prosecutor, and Wabash County Coroner.
