Two Area Village Pantry Stores Robbed Over The Weekend

MARION and WARSAW,Indiana – There have been a rash of robberies across the area. We begin in Marion where police report that a cashier was robbed at gunpoint while working at the Village Pantry on West 9th Street, Sunday night around 11pm. It’s reported two black males in their late teens entered the store and both rushed the woman cashier pointing guns at the woman demanding money. They are described as black males, black pants, black gloves, black ski masks and silver revolvers. She opened the cash drawer and the two men grabbed it and dumped the cash in a backpack. Then they demanded the cashier open the safe. Explaining the safe was on a timer and that she could not open it the pair ran out the door heading west from the store. Police are looking at surveillance tapes. No suspects yet.

Over the weekend in Warsaw another Village Pantry was hit. The store at 400 South Buffalo Street was robbed by a thin white man about 5’7” wearing a black ski mask, white gloves, gray hoodie and black shoes. He held up the clerk with a black handgun, took cash and ran away on foot after he could not get any money from the clerk.

Separately, Grant County police need your help solving a rash of break-ins in the area. Police report the break-ins occur in the late morning and early afternoon hours with the suspects taking cash, jewelry electronics and weapons.
