Thurman Faris Jones, 82, Marion, IN, went to be with the Lord at 12:10 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at IU Health Jay County, Portland, IN. He was born in Montpelier, Kentucky, to the late Arvin and Lillie Ruth (Faris) Jones. He accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Kentucky. He was later united with Greater Second Baptist Church, where he became a member. On November 13, 1961, he married his bride, Margaret L. Artis, and she survives.
Thurman retired from General Motors, where he worked in production. He was a laid-back individual who enjoyed fishing and especially spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Margaret; children, Renee L. Peden, Fishers, Thurman F. Jones, Jr, Sacramento, California, Vincent M. (Monique) Jones, Indianapolis, Trenton F. (Lynn) Jones, Fort Wayne, and Carmella Y. Thomas, Fishers; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Maxwell R. Jones, Anderson; and sisters, Pat Edington, Kokomo, and Debra Jones-Thomas, California.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Vera J. Carson; brothers, James Jones, Arvin Jones Jr., Wendell Jones, Gary Jones, and Stephen Jones; and sisters, Rita P. Cooksie and Wanda G. Broadax.
The family will receive visitors from 10-11 a.m. with Thurman’s funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018, at Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S. Washington St., Marion, IN. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.
