Thomas J Mattern, 88, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 11:42 am, Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Wellbrooke of Wabash. He was born on September 24, 1935, in Wabash, to Robert Greer and Dorothy Elizabeth (Milliner) Mattern.
Tom was a 1953 graduate of Wabash High School, a 1957 graduate Indiana University, and a graduate of the Indiana University School of Law. He was a US Army veteran. Tom married Linda Eloise Snellenberger in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 1, 1963. He was a life long attorney in Wabash, a member of the BAR Association, served as Wabash County Prosecutor, and in 1982 he was sworn in by the US Supreme Court in Washington D.C. Tom was a member of the Wabash Christian Church, a member of the Wabash Kiwanis Club, where he also served as Past President, and the Wabash Elks Lodge. He enjoyed traveling and attending his children and grandchildren’s activities, which he never missed.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Eloise Mattern of Wabash; three sons, Jeffrey (Nadine) Mattern of Goose Creek, South Carolina, Mark (Kristi) Mattern of Sedona, Arizona, and Michael (Kerri) Mattern of Wabash; six grandchildren, Cameron Mattern of Fort Collins, Colorado, Taylor Mattern of Goose Creek, South Carolina, Luke Mattern, Lindsey Mattern, Libby Mattern, and Eli Mattern, all of Wabash; and his sister, Carol Stefanatos of Wabash. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Mattern.
Friends may call from 10 am -12 pm Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Memorial services will be private. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash.
Preferred memorials are Wabash Christian Church, Cystic Fibrosis, or Parkview Hospice.
