Terry J. O’Brien, 84, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 2:43 pm, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Parkview Wabash Hospital. He was born on April 27, 1939, in Wabash, to Eugene and Mildred (Phillips) O’Brien.
Terry was a 1957 graduate of Wabash High School, where he played basketball and football. He was inducted in the Wabash High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018. He served in the US Army for 1 year and the Indiana National Guard for 10 years. Terry married Janny Yeates in Wabash on October 10, 1959. He woked at Container Corporation for 8 years, and was a salesman for Best Equipment in Indianapolis for 30 years and for Link Environmental in Winimac, Indiana for 20 years. He was a member of the Wabash Church of Christ, the Wabash American Legion Post 15, and the Wabash Moose Lodge. Terry and Janny moved back to Wabash in 2005, from Warsaw, Indiana where they lived 24 years. He enjoyed his lake home at Webster Lake and fun times with the family.
He is survived by his wife, Janny O’Brien of Wabash; three children, Scott O’Brien of North Manchester, Indiana, Randy O’Brien and Kelli (Scott) Sailors of Wabash; 8 grandchildren, Krista Primrose, Ashley (Tim) Paris, Jennifer (Chris) Kennedy, Justin (Cydnee) O’Brien, Michelle (Kyle) Kinningham, Cordell Sailors, Elsie O’Brien, and Oliver O’Brien, 11 great grandchildren, and his brother, Michael (Sue) O’Brien of Springfield, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.
Preferred memorial is Riley Hospital for Children.
