Teddy L. (Ted) Mowery passed away at 4:15am on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne, after a short rough battle with brain cancer. He lived a long good life in his 88 years. Everybody that met Ted liked him; he had many friends and acquaintances. He enjoyed sitting and talking to people wherever he went.
Ted was born to Homer Henry “Sparky” and Esther Forrey Mowery on November 22, 1930 in Denver, Indiana. He served in the Korean War as a Sargent in the Artillery Field and was honorably discharged on February 11, 1953. He was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Peru, Indiana. Ted will be probably most remembered as a movie buff and the mailman on E. Main and E. 5th as he was a mail carrier in Peru for the biggest part of 30 years. He also worked at Cooper TV, Vickery Tape & Label and Karlettes Flower Shop.
Ted was a very generous man, he would do just about anything for anybody especially his three sons.
Ted will be greatly missed by all who knew him especially his family. Ted is survived by his wife, Sally, his sons, Jeff, Peru, Tim (Barb), Warsaw, Rick (Cathy), Peru, step daughters, Melinda (Bob) McMillan, Martinsville, Jenny Hayes, Cincinnati, OH, Cheri (Ray) Mayer, Indianapolis, step son, Joe Mayer, Venice, FL. Grandchildren, Brent Mowery, Michael (Missy) Mowery and Michelle (Doug) Clapp, Sarah McMillan, Brian McMillan, Allen Mayer and Megan (Michael) Pryll. Great grandchildren, Caleb Mowery, Josh Mowery, Emily Clapp, Laila Sims, Ty Hornberger and Alex Pryll.
Preceding him in death is his first wife Ginger and son John Victor, second wife Jackie of 54 years, friend and companion Shirley Benner, his parents Homer and Esther, brothers Bill, Jim and Don, sisters Eileen and Gerry and grandchildren Matthew and Melissa Mowery.

Visitation will be held from 3pm – 7pm on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the funeral home, with Pastor Gary Colby officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, with military service provided by the Miami County Military Rites Team.
