Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12 p.m. Thursday at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Burial will be in Star of Hope Cemetery in Huntington County.

Sylvia was born on June 26, 1927 in Johnson City, Tennessee, the daughter of Lonnie and Angie Tester. Sylvia was a homemaker, she loved flowers, and she enjoyed taking her dogs for a drive each afternoon.
Survivors include sons Lonnie “Ed” (Linda) Hyder of Huntington and Charles “Tom” (Jody) Hyder of Indianapolis, a daughter-in-law, Cherylyn Hyder, grandchildren Craig Hyder, Todd Hyder, Scott Hyder, Leslie Regan, Jennifer Volkman, and Julie Crister, and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Hartley Hyder Sr., her second husband, Robert Distel, and a son, Hartley Hyder Jr.
