Susan J. Calobrace, age 74, of Marion passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Marion General Hospital, Marion, Indiana.
Susan was born November 30, 1944 in Marion, Indiana the daughter of the late Herbert and Vera (Nelson) Shafer. She was a payroll clerk at Foster Forbes until her retirement in 2000 after 30 plus years of service.
Susan was a member of the Amvets Post #5 Ladies Auxiliary; the American Legion Post #10 Ladies Auxiliary; the Eagles Lodge; the Women of the Moose in Marion and Gas City; and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Marion. She was the #1 Chicago Cubs fan in the World! When the Cubs played their last game of the season, she knew then the number of the days it would be to their first spring training game!
Susan is survived by her son, Chuck Calobrace (Janelle Stone) of Gas City; step-daughter, Melissa McBrayer-Scott (Andy) of Gas City; daughter-in-law, Cherie Calobrace of Marion; sister-in-law, Linda Shafer of Marion; grandchildren, Gabrielle Calobrace, Brayton Bragg, Courtney Calobrace and Lexi Sands; two step-grandchildren, Kailey Simmons and Peyton Asbury; two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Bisher, Roman Byrd and one on the way; and 2 step great-grandchildren, Caden Simmons and Copeland Simmons.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Clayton Shafer and Fred Shafer; and a sister, Madeline Morgan.
Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Matthew Trexler officiating.
Burial will follow funeral services in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County, Indiana.
