Steven Ray Borders

Steven Ray Borders, 65, Marion, passed away at 9:59 p.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Marion General Hospital.  He was born in Marion on July 28, 1953, to Vurney and Mary (Nash) Borders, who preceded him in death.

Steven loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Navy.  Following his military service, he was a supervisor in the Housekeeping Department at the Marion V.A. Hospital.  He was a Free Mason with the Gas City Lodge and a member of the NRA.  Steven was also an amazing guitarist, loved horses, and enjoyed doing yardwork.

He will be missed by his daughter and his son-in-law who was like a son to him, Sarah (Nick) Lochard, Alaska; sister, Vickie (Larry) Keal, Etowah, Tennessee; and nephews, Thomas Keal, Tennessee, Doug Bartel, Robert Adkins, and Michael Adkins, all from Marion.

Also preceding him in death were sisters, Patricia Kelly and Connie Adkins.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Steven’s life will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.  Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery.
