Steve “Lee” Allen Ambrose

Steve “Lee” Allen Ambrose, 61, Stillwater Hospice Fort Wayne, Indiana gained his angel wings at 10:48 PM Thursday, September 14, 2023 after a motorcycle accident on August 29, 2023 in Logansport, Indiana. Steve was born December 16, 1961 in Tupelo, Mississippi to Webster Lee Ambrose and Willie Lee (Ambrose) Dilworth.

Steve was employed with Main Street Mechanical in Logansport, Indiana for 16 years left there in 2016 and went to work at Bryan Steam in Peru, Indiana for 6 years and was a member of 357 Boiler Maker Union. Steve married Ronda Hiles on February 27, 2004 and she survives.

Steve was a very devoted husband and father to all his children and a wonderful grandpa. He would always be live on Facebook whenever he was doing things with his grandchildren like playing in the park, riding their bikes and love playing disk golf with all of his boys, grandkids, and his nephews, Kieth and Braxton. Steve loved playing softball and nothing got past him at 3rd base and he loved to hit home runs. He also loved that his grandson, History, plays baseball and has his number 21. 

He loved riding his Harley Street Glide which he called his baby girl and she was always shining.

Steve had a heart of gold would help anybody, anytime, anywhere, no one was a stranger to him. He loved to talk and go on and on. His family will miss him terribly. Steve was all about family getting together. 

In addition to his wife, Ronda, of Logansport, Steve is survived by his children; Travis (Betha) Rader of Peru, Indiana, Steven (Trista) Ambrose of Hamlet, Indiana, Justine Ambrose of Peru, Indiana, Patrick Ambrose of Peru, Indiana, Damon Louthain of Logansport, Indiana, Jared Louthain of Logansport, Indiana, and Blake (Amber) Evans of Twelve Mile, Indiana, grandchildren; Justice, Jordan, Oasis, Promise, History, Adrianna, Jalen, Sienna, Kamaria, Alexandria, Iris, and Emma, siblings; John (Donna) Dilworth of Peru, Indiana, Catherine (Lester) Powe of Indianapolis, Indiana, Evelyn (Lawrence) Raysor of Indianapolis, Indiana, Carolyn (Anthony) Sanders of Montgomery, Alabama, Rueben Dilworth of Peru, Indiana, Rex (Beckie) Ambrose of Peru, Indiana, Tammy (Joel) Wilson of Peru, Indiana, Tanyia (Ronald) Cornelis of South Bend, Indiana, Gregory (Andrea) Ambrose of Peru, Indiana, Webster Ambrose Jr. of Muncie, Indiana, and Tommie Lee (Erma) Ambrose of Memphis, Tennessee, parents-in-law; Karen (Keith) Conklin of Logansport, Indiana and Ronnie (Pam) Hiles of Peru, Indiana, brother-in-law, Ron Hiles Jr. of Logansport, Indiana, sister-in laws, Shirley Dilworth of Kokomo, Indiana, Susan (Mark) Baker of Logansport, Indiana and Katrina (Glenn) Overman of Logansport, Indiana, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bobby Dilworth, sister-in-law, Nancy Jamison, brother-in-law, Lamar Ware Jr., and nephew, Tylon Dilworth.

Visitation will be held at Zion Chapel Church, 915 South Broadway, Peru, Indiana on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 11am to 2pm. The funeral service will follow at 2pm with Pastor Rod Correll officiating. Internment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.
