Shirley J. (Harding) Andrick

Shirley J. (Harding) Andrick, of Marion, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023, at the age of 86. She was born on January 25, 1937, to Valice and Lucille (Price) Harding in Marietta, Indiana. Shirley attended school in Marietta, Indiana, and then Shelbyville, Indiana.  She met Clayton Andrick in Shelbyville, and they wed in 1956. After marrying, they moved to Indianapolis and then to Marion where they made their permanent home.

Shirley was a wonderful mom to three children–Guy, Gay, and Marci–and was the unofficial mom to numerous Cub Scouts, sports players, neighborhood children, and several nieces and nephews. She believed wholeheartedly in family and drew much pleasure from her grandchildren and family gatherings. Shirley was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young and then worked as an instructional assistant at Southeast Elementary, Swayzee Market, and Horner’s. Shirley and Clayton purchased The Dairy O store, and she served the best ham salad and many other favorites from there for several years. In her later years, Shirley enjoyed traveling with the UAW Local 977 retirement group and participating in their monthly dinners.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Valice and Lucille (Price) Harding; her husband, Clayton Andrick; her sister, Jennie Mae (Myron) David; her brothers, Jack (Loretta) Harding, Rex  Harding, Gerald Harding, Thomas (Frances) Harding, Lloyd Dwayne Harding, and Samuel Harding; a nephew, Pat David; a niece, Becky (Harding) Smith; in-laws, Andrew (Martha) Andrick, Carolyn Ann (Russell) Hotsinpiller, Jean Ruth, Edith (Andrew) Trader, and Bill Kellogg; and a great-grandson, Shawn Ryan Eby, II.

Shirley is survived by her siblings, John (Nancy) Harding and Marilyn Kellogg; in-laws, Roger (Kathy) Andrick, Gladolene (Ronnie) Martin, and Nelda Harding; her son, Guy; her daughters, Gay (Rick) Nieman and Marci (Nick) Derado; her grandchildren, Arin (Justin) Longfellow, Shirley (Ramon) Aguirre, Amber Andrick, Clayton Payne, Andrew Andrick, Cassie (Shawn) Eby, Nicholas (Becca) Derado, Jenna (Jamie) Minkler, Jesse (Kiersten) Nieman, and Rosa Derado; her great-grandchildren, Kirsten Pressler, Shane Pursch, Maddia Lehman, Haiden Lehman, Aliya Aguirre, Sofia Longfellow, Alex Aguirre, Kian Eby, Cameron Derado, Samuel Derado, and Colette Eby; her great-great-granddaughter, Willow Lehman; and numerous extended family members.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

On Friday, May 26, 2023, a funeral service to celebrate Shirley’s life will take place at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 am.  An additional hour of visitation will begin at 9:00 am until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shirley Andrick’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
