Sherry A. Smith, 68, of LaFontaine, Indiana, formerly of Wabash, died at 2:28 pm, Friday, November 17, 2023, at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center in LaFontaine. She was born on January 25, 1955, in Jamestown, New York, to Eugene H. and Joyce E. (Northrop) Wensley.
Sherry was a 1973 graduate of Wabash High School. She married Charles D. Mabery in Tennessee on April 1, 1974; he died in October 1979. She then married Charles D. Smith on February 14, 1983; he died November of 1996. Sherry worked as a waitress and in health care. She was an absolute angel and enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo, going to casinos, and being around her family.
She is survived by two children, Sherry Lynn Morgan of South Bend, Indiana, and Travis S. (Moriah) Smith of Bedford, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Erica Mabery of Wabash; fourteen grandchildren; one great granddaughter; brothers and sister, Marc (Arin) Wensley of Gas City, Indiana, Marcie (Kevin) Undem of Madison, Wisconsin, and Terry (Margaret) Wensley of Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Aaron D. Mabery.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 3-7 pm Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Wabash County Cancer Society.
